The South Georgia Association was formed to give voice to those who care for South Georgia. South Georgia is a remote mountainous island of exceptional natural beauty in the Southern Atlantic, with abundant wildlife both on the island and in the surrounding ocean. Uninhabited apart from two small research stations and a few government employees, it is an unspoilt wilderness with a fascinating heritage that is none the less environmentally vulnerable.

The Trust - promotes for the public benefit, the conservation and protection of the physical and natural environment and surrounding waters of South Georgia - and advances the education of the public in the island's historical heritage.

Hvalfangstmuseet |
Hvalfangstmuseet i Sandefjord er Europas eneste spesialmuseum for hval og hvalfangst. Våre faste utstillinger og arrangementer tilbyr noe for hele familien. Midtpunktet i zoologisk avdeling er en blåhvalmodell i full størrelse. Kjente og ukjente dyr og fugler fra Arktis og Antarktis er populære blant barna.

Norsk Polarinstitutt |
Norsk Polarinstitutt fungerer som konsulent og kunnskapsleverandør for norske myndigheter, og er med på å sikre en best mulig forvaltning av de norske polarområdene. Polarinstituttet har forvaltningsmyndighet etter Miljøforskriften for Antarktis og Bouvetøyaforskriten. Gjennom aktiv deltagelse i nasjonale og internasjonale organer spiller Norsk Polarinstitutt en sentral rolle i arbeid innen forskning og forvaltning. Totalt har instituttet rundt 131 medarbeidere i Tromsø, i Longyearbyen og Ny-Ålesund på Svalbard og Dronning Maud Land i Antarktis.
